Helpful Tips!
Working with word problems can sometimes be overwhelming and stressful. I have produced these six helpful steps to solving word problems based off of Greg Harrison's article on math word problems. When working through a problem, be sure to follow this six-step process!
1. Take two to three deep breaths to help you relax. This action sends large amounts of oxygen to your brain, helping you think through the problem.
2. Read through the problem twice.
3. Circle all of the numbers and key terminology found throughout the problem.
4. Underline the sentence that asks the question you are trying to solve.
5. Determine the appropiate the operations needed to solve each step.
6. Solve the problem.
